Join us on 20 November 2025 at 09:00 (GMT) for the USSI (Universal Sports for Social Impact) Seminar – “Promoting Inclusion, Values, and Development through Martial Arts in Sport”, an inspiring online event hosted by the Sport Sciences School of Rio Maior, Santarém Polytechnic University, Portugal.
This international seminar will bring together distinguished speakers and experts from across Europe to explore how martial arts can be used as a transformative tool for education, inclusion, and social development.
Among the confirmed speakers are Nuno Delgado (Portugal), who will discuss methodologies for developing life values through sport; Bere Tamás (Hungary), presenting insights from the USSI Framework pilot on judo for social development; Juel Jarani (Albania), addressing the organisation and functioning of martial arts federations; Stevo Popovic (Montenegro), sharing case studies on universal sports for social impact; Sara Osmani (Kosovo), reflecting on judo’s journey from education to international success; and Rogério Jorge (Portugal), highlighting judo practices with children and young people in residential care settings.
The programme will open with Nuno Pimenta, Dean of the Sport Sciences School of Rio Maior, and Carla Borrego, Portuguese Representative of USSI, followed by a series of conferences, a round table discussion, and the closing session at noon.
